Second Sunday in January

12 Jan

Today brings to mind that phrase, “the best laid plans of mice and men…”  Nothing works quite like we think it will.  We can have great plans, but they don’t always work out.  Many people are probably feeling that way just because of the ice/snow over the last several days.  What a mess.  It has truly changed the plans of many people, as it did mine.  Today, I didn’t get to the office until about 2:30, but I did make it.  I am thankful for the opportunity to at least get a chance to be at the church some during the week now.
This past Sunday, we looked at Matthew 4 and the temptation of Jesus.  In looking at the temptation, it reminds me of similar temptations to those we face.  We face temptations of “fleshly” things, we face temptations of pride, and we face temptations to let the things of this world draw us in and away from the One who deserves all our worship/praise.  The way to overcome is to stay focused on the will of God.  If it isn’t in His will, don’t do it.  Sounds easy enough, but if we aren’t in constant prayer, how will we know His will?  We need to be in constant communication with the Lord so that we are focused on the right things at the right time.
This Sunday is something special.  It is pastor appreciation Sunday, and also my 7th year anniversary as Pastor.  I am so thankful for my FMBC family.  I am way more blessed than I deserve.  God deserves all the glory for all He has done!!  He is AMAZING!
